Rogers

January 18, 1933 – June 28, 2015

On Sunday, June 28, Peaches Eleanor Auraellen Carroll Rogers passed away due to complications of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. She was cared for by her family at the time of her death. She is now sitting at the feet of Jesus upon being reunited with her heavenly family.

Peaches was born on January 18, 1933 in Sikeston, Missouri. Her father, Thomas Brice Carroll Sr., and her mother, Ethel B. Russell Carroll, preceded her in death. Her paternal grandmother, Margaret E. Carroll; her brother, Thomas Brice Carroll Jr.; stepmother, Dolly Faye Chapman Carroll; and sister, Susan Eleanor Carroll Vanover, have all preceded her in death.

Peaches attended Memphis Business College, Central Oregon Community College, Southern Oregon College and Portland State University, earning a teaching degree and counseling license. She taught elementary grade school and was a school counselor in the Bend School District for many years up until her retirement.

Peaches was an avid traveler. She visited all 50 states, and over a dozen foreign countries. She was also President of the PTA, President of the Deschutes Democratic Party, and President of the League of Women Voters.

Peaches was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Bend for many years where she was actively involved with teaching classes, the music program, organizing Vacation Bible School and other various activities. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bend where she has been an active member and was awarded the honor of “Volunteer of the Year”.

Peaches was happiest caring for her family and friends, helping others, and was firmly dedicated to her religious beliefs.

Peaches married William Franklin Rogers and had three children, Thomas Dale Rogers Sr. of Burns, Donese Lyndele Rogers Pogue of Bend, and Kenneth Allen Rogers, who died shortly after childbirth. She is survived by her son and daughter, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two nieces, and one nephew.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, and a Graveside Service at the Greenwood Cemetery on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. All are welcome to attend. Donations may be made in Peaches Rogers name to the First United Methodist Church in Bend.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home.
