Matthew Ellis Jones, 36, of Salem died July 27, 2015. He was born in Oregon City on December 14, 1978, to Michael and Ginger Jones, with his fraternal twin Michael, proceeded by his sister, Jamie.

Matthew grew up in Clackamas and moved to Salem where he completed his GED attending Chemekata Community College.

Matthew was a skilled craftsman and project manager specializing in drywall and plaster design. His diligence, hard work and creativity are seen in every project Matthew took on in the 15 years he practiced his trade.

Everyone who knew Matthew knew him for his great sense of humor and energetic optimism. Always young at heart, Matthew enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, camping, kayaking and hiking in the mountains. He was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in with strong conviction to his beliefs. He was a loving, devoted father and loyal friend to many.

Matthew is survived by his children, Riley Jones of Tigard; Layne Whitehead of McMinnville; mother, Ginger Jones of Newberg; twin brother, Michael Jones of Bend; sister, Jamie Struna of Drummond, Montana; aunt and uncle, Julie and Denny Morgan of Bend; proceeded in death by his father, Michael Jones.

Matthew had a kind heart and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

A memorial service will held Sunday, August 2, at 10:00 a.m., at Deschutes Memorial Chapel and Gardens.

A trust has been set up for Riley and Layne and all contributions can be made to any US Bank branch.
