The Electronics Shop, which has operated in Bend since 1991, is closing.

Molly Valenti, who co-owns the business along with her son, Alan Valenti, said they want to retire.

Founded in 1978, The Electronics Shop moved to Bend from Florida in 1991, when the Valentis set up shop in a store down the street from the current location at 132 NE Franklin Ave. The shop repairs televisions, DVD players and other electronics, in addition to selling and renting them.

Molly Valenti said the business would be staying open for the next few weeks to complete existing orders, though it stopped accepting electronics for repair on July 20, according to the company’s website.

“We’ve been at this for 37 years,” she said, “and it’s time.”
