Pastor Thomas Henry Shelton, was a loving husband, father and friend who led many to a relationship with their Lord and Savior, went to be with his heavenly father on Monday Oct 19, 2015 in Gresham Oregon.
He was born on June 11, 1927 in Pontiac Michigan, but spent most of his childhood near the North Santiam River. Tom graduated from Mill City High school in 1945 and immediately joined the US Navy during WWII. Upon his return, he went to Northwest Christian College where he met the love of his life Ruby Pyle. They were married on Aug 31, 1947.
Tom dedicated his life to Christian ministry and empowered countless people to be a light of God’s love. After seminary, he was called to the Bend First Christian Church. The first of many congregations to be blessed by his leadership. For over four decades he passionately served at Allison Park Church, Faith Center and Powell Butte Church. Tom baptized 832 into the family of God and married 294 couples.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby, son Randy, daughter Joy Thompson, five grandchildren and one great-grand child. A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday Nov 1, 2015 at the Fairview Cemetery. A fellowship reception will follow at First Christian Church in Mill City.
The family requests that memorials be made to Powell Butte Christian Church.
