Five Guys Burgers and Fries, a restaurant chain based in Virginia, plans to open a location in Bend near NE Third Street and NE Franklin Avenue.

The Bend restaurant will open at 222 NE Emerson Ave., next to Chipotle Mexican Grill and Jersey Mike’s Subs, said Mel Garges, Five Guys franchisee owner. The building is immediately south of Walgreens.

He said he would like to have the restaurant open around the end of December, but if not, it should open early in 2016.

Five Guys, which offers a menu of eight different burgers, four hot dogs, fries and four sandwiches, has more than 1,200 outlets in 47 states, along with restaurants in six Canadian provinces, according to its website.
