Central Oregon trail update

Tumalo Falls is now open to hikers, bikers and equestrians only. No motorized vehicles are allowed at this time. Access is open via Forest Service Road 4603, Tumalo Creek Trail and Farewell Trail from the top of the Mrazek Trail. North Fork, Bridge Creek (hikers only) and South Fork trails are now open. Vehicle parking is open at the Skyliner Trailhead.
There is a few inches of snow accumulated in the higher elevation backcountry trails, along the Pacific Crest Trail and the South Sisters. Trails at the higher elevations may be partially blocked by snow. Keep a close eye on the weather before venturing out. If there is a storm front on the way, it’s best to postpone a backcountry hike.
Recent wind storms blew down several trees in the Deschutes National Forest. It’s strongly advised to avoid using the trails during high wind storms, especially in fire and beetle-kill areas.
Currently there are no seasonal road closures, but that can change once the snow hits. Crater Lake National Park’s North Entrance Road and East and West Rim drives are now closed for the season.
Sno-park season is now in effect through April 30. Sno-park permits will be required once there is snow accumulation. Daily and annual permits are available.
