OperaBend will present an evening of songs and scenes from its 2016 season. Under the direction of Nancy Engebretson, the program will feature Central Oregon singers, including members of the Central Oregon Community College Opera Performance Class, in scenes from Johann Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” (in English), Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” and “Via Lactea,” a new opera authored by Ellen Waterston of Bend and composed by Rebecca Oswald of Eugene. The performance is free, but donations will be accepted to further the nonprofit’s mission.

Performances are at 7 tonight and 2 p.m. Saturday at COCC’s Pinckney Center for the Arts, Pence Hall, 2600 NW College Way, Bend.
