Cycling

BEA claims state cyclocross title — Bend Endurance Academy beat out Eugene United by two points to claim the Oregon Junior Cyclocross Series title at the OBRA Cyclocross Championships in Sandy on Nov. 21. BEA’s Hannah Mavis, 16, won the Junior Women 15-16 category in Sandy, while Henry Jones (Junior Men 15-16) and Ryder Uetrecht (Junior Men 13-14) also won their age group and Ian Brown (Junior Men 10-12) and Tyler Lovejoy (13-14 Junior Men) finished third. Mavis also won the six-race series for her age group, while Uetrecht tied for first. Ava Lilley took second in the Junior Women 13-14 age group, while Calvin Keane (Junior Men 13-14), Nate Lelack (15-16 Junior Men) and Ivy Taylor (Junior Women 17-18) all finished in third place.

Floor Hockey

Pee Wee sessions to be held at RAPRD Activity Center — Kids ages 5 and 6 can join in the pee wee floor hockey sessions, which will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 4, 11 and 18. Registration costs $17 and is available online at www.raprd.org.

BASKETBALL

BPRD seeking youth coaches — The Bend Park & Recreation District is seeking adult volunteers to coach 65 teams of boys and girls in grades three through five. The season runs from Jan. 4 through March 5, and each team will practice twice a week and play games on Saturdays. Coaches must attend a training session before the season and complete a volunteer application, criminal background check and online concussion awareness training course. RAPRD girls league to begin in January — Girls in grades three through six are may sign up for the Redmond Area Park and Recreation District basketball league, which will run for six weeks beginning on Jan. 16. Registration costs $49 and ends on Dec. 13. Teams meet twice a week for practice and play games on Saturdays. The league is also in need of volunteer coaches.
