Report hunts to ODFW by Jan. 31

Hunters must report their deer and elk tags to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife by Jan. 31 to avoid a $25 penalty to purchase a 2017 hunting license, according to a news release.

The reporting is for any 2015 hunt that ended by Dec. 31, 2015.

Hunters can report online at www.reportmyhunt.com or call 866-947-6339 to report by phone. Reporting is mandatory for every deer, elk, pronghorn, cougar, bear and turkey tag purchased — even if the hunt was unsuccessful.

A hunter/angler ID number is required for reporting. The number is printed on all licenses and documents and stays the same year to year.

Every hunter who reports on time is entered to win one of three special tags that the ODFW gives away each year. Winners can hunt anywhere in Oregon for an extended season.

For more information, visit the ODFW website at www.dfw.state.or.us.
