As part of the American Association of Community Theatre’s NewPlayFest, 2nd Street Theater in Bend has been chosen as one of seven community theaters around the U.S. that will each stage the world premiere of a new play in 2016.

The work debuting at 2nd Street is Los Angeles playwright Malcolm MacDonald’s “Laguna Beach, Ohio,” about the weekend reunion of a group of friends in their 50s who have convened to save the beach house one of them is desperate to sell. The script calls for three men and three women ages 35-70.

Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at 2nd Street Theater, 220 NE Lafayette Ave., Bend.

The show will be directed by Rick Jenkins and runs March 25 through April 9.
