Mid Oregon Credit Union, based in Bend, is expanding its service area, the credit union announced Wednesday.

The National Credit Union Administration approved a Mid Oregon request to expand into Lake and Wheeler counties and a portion of northern Klamath County including areas around Crescent, Crescent Lake, Odell Lake, Gilchrist and Jack Pine Village, according to a news release.

A new credit union branch under construction in La Pine would serve new members in Lake and northern Klamath counties; the Prineville branch would serve new clients in Wheeler County, according to the credit union. Mid Oregon Credit Union, with about 24,700 members, provides online and mobile banking services, as well as walk-in banking.

Kyle Frick, vice president of marketing and community relations, said Wednesday the credit union’s La Pine branch alone has over 1,300 members, $12 million in loans and $8 million in deposits.

Wheeler County from 1961 to 1998 was part of the Mid Oregon charter, according to Bill Anderson, president and CEO of Mid Oregon Credit Union.
