Two crashes near Prineville on black ice

Two separate crashes Friday night just outside Prineville probably were caused by black ice.

Crook County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a single-vehicle crash at 9:57 p.m. Friday on George Millican Road about 4 miles southwest of Prineville. Officers found a red Ford F150 pickup off the east side of the road, according to a release from the sheriff’s office. The crash damaged a barbed wire fence and the driver’s side of the truck. It was “obvious” the vehicle lost control on black ice, the release said. The occupants were not injured.

While at that crash, deputies received a report at 10:43 p.m. of a second crash — a rollover — down the road at milepoint 2. There, officers found a white 1986 Toyota pickup blocking the southbound lane of George Millican Road. The driver, Robin Lynne McMahan, 41, of Prineville, received non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.

McMahan lost control of her vehicle when she hit black ice, the release said. The pickup went off the west side of the road and rolled at least twice before coming to rest back on its wheels in the southbound lane. McMahan was cited for driving without a license.
