A crowd of people who want to prevent development at Troy Field participate in a “Night Light Flash Mob” on the field during First Friday in Bend.
The 0.8-acre lot on NW Bond Street is owned by Bend-La Pine Schools.

The fenced green space is named for Troy Laundry, which was located directly east of the field. Over the years it has been used as a skating rink and playing fields.
The district wants to sell the property and in June accepted a $1.9 million offer from a Portland-area developer that intends to build a boutique hotel there.
First, though, the field’s plan designation must be changed. It is zoned for commercial use but has a public facilities designation for public buildings. Last week, a hearings officer recommended the City Council not approve that designation change.
The next public hearing on the issue will be Feb. 24. City Council is expected to indicate its decision at that hearing.
