Helen Mattie (Hemmingsen) Moore, daughter of early Eugene area settlers, died peacefully on February 22, 2016 at age 101. Born October 4, 1914, in Crosby, North Dakota, to Danish immigrants Peter and Mattie Hemmingsen, she was the last surviving of 9 children.

Following her marriage to William R. Moore in 1936, they lived in Portland and were involved in numerous civic activities, notably the Rose Festival Association. In 1969 the family acquired Pepsicola Bottling Company of Bend (now doing business as Bigfoot Beverages,) which has been managed by family members to this day.

She is survived by sons Bob (Margaret) and Craig (Lynne,) daughter-in-law Mary Ann, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by another son Peter and her husband Bill.

Helen was interred with her husband at River View Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, on February 29. A private family celebration of her life will be held later in the spring.
