Albertsons to buy Bend Haggen stores
Published 11:56 pm Friday, March 11, 2016
The Haggen grocery chain has agreed to sell its two Bend stores and 27 others in Oregon and Washington to Albertsons, Haggen announced this afternoon.
Haggen, based in Bellingham, Washington, accepted a bid by Albertson’s LLC to acquire 29 supermarkets referred to in Haggen bankruptcy proceedings as core stores, according to a news release issued at 4:55 p.m.
It’s not clear whether the Bend stores will operate under the Haggen or Albertsons banner. In an email, a Haggen representative wrote that the company would make no additional comment. The Bend stores, one on SE Third Street and the other on NE Third Street, were Albertsons before Haggen bought them, changed their names and remodeled them in 2015.
