The two Haggen grocery stores in Bend will be converted back into Albertsons, according to a news release from Haggen issued Monday.
On Friday, Haggen announced an agreement to sell 29 stores in Oregon and Washington to Albertson’s LLC.
The proposed plan would keep 15 Haggen stores in Washington under the Bellingham, Washington-based grocer’s branding, while the 14 remaining stores — including the two in Bend — would be rebranded as Albertsons stores. The company did not disclose when the stores would be transitioning back to Albertsons.
The two stores in Bend, located at 1800 NE Third Street and 61155 S. U.S. Highway 97, respectively, were purchased by Haggen after Albertson’s and Safeway agreed to sell off 168 combined stores near the end of 2014 as a condition of their merger. Haggen purchased 146 of the total stores. The two Bend stores transferred ownership and received new signs in May.
In September, Haggen filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In October, a Delaware bankruptcy court approved Haggen’s plan to auction off the bulk of its grocery stores.
