The light keeps shining for Liz Vice.
Since the national release of her debut album “There’s a Light” in September, the Portland-based gospel and R&B powerhouse has toured the U.S. and been featured twice on National Public Radio. Her last visit to Bend, in November at Volcanic Theatre Pub, came just after her first East Coast tour.
Vice, who suffered from an autoimmune disease for years before finding her calling as a singer, closed out 2015 by performing at The Trail Band’s annual Portland holiday show. This year she’s already toured with The Wood Brothers (she opened up for the band’s Sisters Folk Festival show in January), and she has a slew of festival dates lined up for summer.
Before that, she’ll return to Bend as part of McMenamins Great Northwest Music Tour, which lands at the Old St. Francis School tonight. Vice’s mix of soulful belting, gospel fervency and R&B muscle is best experienced in an intimate setting such as this. Get on it before her light shines too brightly for this small city.
