Madras duo to enter wrestling hall — Madras residents Ron and Laurice Ochs will be inducted into the Oregon chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame this week. At a banquet in Tigard on Saturday, the couple will receive lifetime service awards for being founders and sponsors of Madras’ annual Nels Ochs Memorial wrestling tournament, which began in 1979.
Cougars commit — Eight Mountain View athletes recently announced their intentions to compete in their respective sports in college. Zach Emerson (Oregon) and Noah Spear (NAIA Arizona Christian) have committed to play football, while Karlee Duncan (volleyball, NCAA Division III Pacific), Madison Leapaldt (cross-country and track and field, NCAA Division II Northern State), Alex Pitcher (water polo, NCAA Division I La Salle), Noah Cheney (basketball, NCAA Division III Eastern Nazarene), Alex Shaver (equestrian, club Montana Western) and Colton Lovelace (baseball, NCAA Division II Western Oregon) also announced their commitments.
