Bend cyclist Ian Boswell has been selected for Team Sky’s roster for the 99th edition of the Giro d’Italia, Team Sky announced Tuesday. The Giro starts in Apeldoorn, Holland, on Friday and concludes in Turin, Italy, on May 29.

The Giro is one of cycling’s three Grand Tours — the other two are the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. Boswell, 25, will be racing in his second Grand Tour after claiming a third-place finish on stage 11 of the Vuelta last season.

Boswell is known for his strength as a climber, and the Team Sky website notes that “his selfless attitude and unwavering work ethic have helped achieve victories in four of the five races he has entered for Team Sky this season.”

Boswell is the only American among the nine riders named to Team Sky’s roster for the Giro. The team will be led by Spaniard Mikel Landa, who finished third overall in the 2015 Giro.
