Portland-based vacation-rental company Vacasa has acquired Discover Sunriver, which has managed vacation rentals in the area for three decades.
Kalli Bean, public relations manager for Vacasa, said discussions between the two companies have been ongoing since late 2015, when Discover Sunriver owners Larry and Lori Browning reached out to Vacasa about selling the company. The acquisition was announced April 20. Details of the sale were not disclosed.

Bean said Vacasa, which bills itself as a full-service vacation-rental management service, maintains local employees to manage the properties. She added that the company is still reviewing Discover Sunriver’s existing employees, but Vacasa intends to keep most of them on if possible.
“In this acquisition, we were particularly impressed with the employees,” Bean said Thursday.
The purchase adds 111 vacation rentals to Vacasa’s portfolio, giving the company 212 total homes in Sunriver and 316 in Central Oregon. As a result, the Portland company said it is now the largest vacation rental manager in Sunriver.
In November, Vacasa purchased Carefree Vacation Rentals, which handled properties around Eagle Crest.
Bean added that Vacasa also manages properties in other communities in the region and state. In all, Vacasa has rentals in 14 states and four other countries.
