The Visit Bend board of directors selected Kevney Dugan to become the next CEO of the tourism promotion agency.

Earlier this month, current president and CEO Doug La Placa announced that he will be stepping aside at the end of June to take a job as the CEO of Precise Flight Inc., an aviation company based in Bend.

Dugan, currently Visit Bend’s director of sales and sports development, will take over as CEO on July 1. He has worked in his current role for Visit Bend since 2010, bringing 23 national championship athletic events to Bend during that time, according to a news release issued Thursday.

Between now and July, he will be working closely with La Placa to prepare for his new role.

Separately, Valerie Warren, who has worked as Visit Bend’s operations director since 2009, has been promoted to the newly created role of vice president of operations and policy, according to the release.
