Deaths of note from around the world:

Todd Oakes, 55: University of Minnesota pitching coach who had 26 pitchers drafted into the major leagues joining the Gophers in 1999. Died Thursday in Minneapolis after a four-year battle with leukemia.

Ted Dumitru, 76: Former South African national soccer team coach whose 40-year career took him from communist Romania to Turkey, Germany, the United States and across Africa. Collapsed at a shopping mall in Johannesburg and died Thursday.

Nancy Dow, 79: Jennifer Aniston’s mother was a model who acted on television in the 1960s, including appearances on “The Beverly Hillbillies” and “The Wild Wild West.” Died in Los Angeles after a long illness.

Donn Chappellet, 84: His deep, long-lived cabernets, produced at his Chappellet Vineyard, helped establish the Napa Valley, California, as a serious rival to Bordeaux. Died on Sunday at his home in St. Helena, California.

Joe Fleishaker 62: A 500-pound actor known for his work in low-budget horror films, including playing the “The Toxic Avenger” in three Troma Productions films. Died Monday at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City.
