Editorial: Read the emails for yourself
Published 12:00 am Thursday, June 2, 2016
When we recently wrote an editorial (bit.ly/bbcampbell) questioning Bend city Councilor Barb Campbell’s response to an email from former Mayor Jeff Eager, we didn’t include the text of Eager’s email. It wasn’t relevant to the point we were making that we believe Campbell’s response was inappropriate.
But Campbell pointed out that choice in an In My View (bit.ly/bbresponse) that we published Wednesday. So below is the text of Eager’s email — absent a smiley face at the end. Below that is Campbell’s response. Judge for yourself.

I’m writing to offer an e-introduction to the Central Oregon Association of Realtors’ new Government Affairs Director, Tyler Neese. Tyler hails from Arkansas, and is quickly getting up to speed on our numerous special issues here in Bend. Tyler will soon be reaching out to you separately regarding setting up a time to get together with each of you. I hope you will not hold my introduction against him.
Cheers,
Jeff
Here is Cambell’s reply:

Not sure how anyone will be getting up to speed with the condition of the roads what they are.
I’ve had 8 hours of budget meetings this month trying to figure out what to do with that 80 million dollar can you & Potholes Chudowsky kicked my way. Not really interested in advice or recommendations from you unless it has to do with which priorities we need to change. Or do I understand perfectly your desired priority: to recruit an army of developers and realtors to grow, fatten, butcher and sell off my city to the highest bidder?
Have you got an exit strategy? Do you own property in Boseman?
