College Notes
Elizabeth McIntosh, of Bend, recently graduated from Tulane University’s Law School, in New Orleans, with a juris doctor degree.
The following Central Oregon students have been named to the spring 2016 president’s list at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington: Hannah Anderson, Austin Caswell, Maxwell Cook, Damon George, Madeline Hueske, Graham Lelack, Angelicah Njuguna, Victoria Sample and Abigail Sorlie, of Bend; and Emily Christen, of Sisters.
The following students from Bend have been named to the spring 2016 dean’s list at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington: Regan Fehrenbacher, Claire Henson and Shelby Tiller.
Riley L. Barrett, of Sisters, has been named to the spring 2016 dean’s list at Fairfield University in Connecticut.
Victoria “Lauren” Riback and Kelley Duggan, both of Redmond, and Lynze Schonneker, of Culver, have been awarded Oregon Farm Bureau Memorial Scholarships by the Oregon Farm Bureau Foundation for Education. Riback is a senior at Texas A&M University, where she is studying agricultural science with a focus on agricultural education. Duggan is a freshman at Chico State University, where she is studying animal science. Schonneker is a freshman at Oregon State University, where she is studying agricultural science.
Aaron Glavan, of Redmond, recently graduated from the University of Montana Western with an associate of science degree.
Morgan E. Stewart and Alexa D. Westberg, both of Bend, have been named to the spring 2016 dean’s list at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Teen Feats
Summit High School’s newspaper The Pinnacle, recently won the Best of Category Award at the 2016 Student Media Olympics Awards by the Northwest Scholastic Press Association. The newspaper received 13 Best of Category Awards for writing, design, photography and more. Additionally, individual students on the paper were awarded a total of 22 superior awards, nine excellent awards and 14 honorable mentions.
Tyler L. Guyer, a student at Redmond High School, has been awarded the National Merit Oregon State University Scholarship. Guyer will attend Oregon State University, where he plans to study engineering.
Amanda Woods, a senior at Summit High School, has been awarded the Central Oregon Federated Republican Women 2016 College Scholarship ($2,000). Woods plans to attend Central Oregon Community College then transfer to the Oregon Institute of Technology where she will study sonography.
