Of Prineville, Oregon, Ray passed away peacefully at home after an 11-year battle with cancer. He was born to Raymond and Grace Leonard in Redding, California, August 14, 1942. He graduated from Shasta Union High in Redding, California, 1960. Ray served in the United States Navy from 1960 until 1963. He was discharged with an honorable discharge, during his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Portland Oregon District from 1968 to 1979. He owned his own businesses, CRT construction in Central Point, Oregon, from 1979 to 1985; Video 40 stores in Central Point, Oregon, 1985 to 1989; Pinocchio’s Tavern in Redmond, Oregon, 1989 to 1991; from 1992 to 2004 upon retiring, Ray was employed with the department of Interior Bureau of Land Management in Prineville, Oregon, as a Civil Engineering Technician.

Ray loved his family dearly and loved hunting with his friends and his family. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sheri Fernandez. He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Vickey; son and daughter-in-law, Ray J. and Joyce Leonard; daughter and son-in-law, Cori and Danny Walters, and their families; brother, Robert Leonard. He is also survived by his wife’s daughters and sons-in-law, Kori and Rory Emerson, Carrie and Brad Hayes, and their families; and many grandchildren and relatives. Ray was a thoughtful, kind, and loving man he had great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

At his request, there will be no services.

Prineville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
