Rod passed away from liver cancer at home in Redmond, OR, on June 7, 2016, with his companion, Mary, by his side.

On July 25, 1959 Rod was born in McMinnville, OR to Eleanor and Darrel Johnson. He grew up in the Northwest. He started his career working for the family avionics business before moving on to working for large nurseries designing irrigation systems. In recent years he owned his own business as a licensed general contractor as well as worked for a large land developer as the Land Maintenance Mgr. Rod had a passion for designing and creating his unique ideas that is showcased in the remodeled home he shared with Mary. Among Rods many hobbies was restoring a 37 Ford pickup. Rods quick wit and ready smile made him a favorite among his friends, neighbors and customers; they considered him a really “good guy” for going out of his way to help anyone. He could troubleshoot and fix anything.

He is survived by his loving partner, Mary Ruby; mom, Eleanor; brothers, Kevin and Craig; sisters, Dana, Cindy and Rhonda, son, Jeremiah, “daughter”, Miya; grandchildren, Byrson, Essence and Landon; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Rod has joined his sister, Karen, and his dad, Darrel, who passed away in April.

Rods Celebration of Life will be held June 19th at 11:00 am. Please join us at Sam Johnson Park Pavilion in Redmond, OR. Location: SW 15th St. and SW Canyon Dr. Potluck.
