The MRG Foundation awarded a grant to KPOV 88.9, Central Oregon’s community radio station, for the station’s role in facilitating conversation surrounding themes of social justice and community organization. The money will help KPOV continue to build strong partnerships with local organizations and nonprofits.
“MRG Foundation is a crucial and generous supporter of cutting edge, grassroots social justice organizations in Oregon,” said Jill Mahler, KPOV Station Manager. “KPOV is honored by MRG’s confidence in our work.”
KPOV hopes to utilize the grant to reach out to voices of color and LGBTQ voices in the community. It aims to ensure that as many Central Oregon communities as possible are represented on their airwaves.
“MRG Foundation also has a long history of supporting other social justice organizations in Central Oregon, including Jobs with Justice Central Oregon, the Human Dignity Coalition and 350 Deschutes,” said Mahler in a press release. “MRG has advanced the cause of social justice in Central Oregon immeasurably by funding and providing guidance and other assistance to these important local organizations.”
