Approximately 36 miles of U.S. Highway 97 and state Highway 58 will be repaved beginning this month, slowing down traffic in the Chemult area, according to a news release from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The work will be done by Oregon Mainline Paving and will include striping, center line and shoulder rumble strips, and recessed pavement markers.
Work will start Aug. 21 with 20 miles of paving on Highway 97, from milepost 201.7 to milepost 221, going through Chemult. This work is expected to be complete by the end of September. Paving on Highway 58 from milepost 75 to milepost 79 northeast of Chemult, and at the intersection of Highway 58 and Highway 97, is set to begin in mid-September.
Drivers can expect flagger-controlled lane restrictions during work hours from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, with up to 20-minute delays, the release states.
Paving on the remainder of Highway 58 from Crescent Lake to the intersection with Highway 97 north of Chemult is scheduled to be done in 2017.
