- Andy Tullis / The BulletinDonald Kenney talks about new additions to the Suttle Lodge while giving a tour last week.
Nearly six weeks after it initially planned to reopen, The Suttle Lodge & Boathouse expects to open and begin taking reservations today. The lodge, restaurant, marina and cabins, formerly known as The Lodge at Suttle Lake, were purchased for $1.5 million in September by Dave Schrott and Robert Sacks of the Portland-based firm A&R Development. It’s located south of U.S. Highway 20 on the east end of Suttle Lake.
Donald Kenney, co-founder of The Mighty Union, a hotel management company that partnered with A&R, said the partners sunk another $1.5 million into renovations to the lodge and Boathouse restaurant to modernize and repair the buildings after a flood in 2014.
Kenney said the Boathouse has been refurbished, with a new menu, and a beer garden looking out over the lake. He said the Boathouse will not open until later in the season, though the beer garden may begin serving earlier. He added that the rooms, lobby and adventure cabins have also been modified.
