- Auto showroom going up in Bend
Owner: Kendall Development Group LLC
General Contractor: Sunwest Builders
Architect: DKA Architecture & Design P.C.
Details: The metal support beams of Kendall Auto Group’s new showroom are in place, and the dealership’s general manager expects the building to be completed by the beginning of 2017.
Adam Bowles, project manager for Sunwest Builders, said builders in April knocked down the previous building on the site, which housed a sales office that was shared by Kendall’s Audi and Volkswagen dealerships. Bowles said the project began after the Volkswagen dealership moved to its current location on NE U.S. Highway 20.
Robert Durfee, general manager for Kendall Auto Group, said the showroom, which will be specific to Audi automobiles, should be ready by the beginning of January. He would not disclose the cost of the project.
Bowles said the 8,700-square-foot building will have several small sales offices, but most of the space will be used to showcase the cars. The building is designed with large glass windows and metal on the exterior, he added.
“It’s a very sleek, modern-looking building,” Bowles said Friday.
In addition to its residential and commercial work in Central Oregon, Sunwest has completed several projects for local dealerships, including building a new dealership for Toyota Scion of Bend, and renovating Bend Honda’s dealership.
Additionally, Bowles said Sunwest is building a separate showroom and sales center for Kendall’s Porsche dealership directly south of the Audi showroom. The builder staggered the two projects by about a month and a half, and Bowles expects the Porsche building to be complete by the middle of February.
