Timbers’ Jewsbury says he will retire

Portland Timbers midfielder Jack Jewsbury will retire at the end of this season after 14 seasons in Major League Soccer, he announced Sunday night.
The 35-year-old has played for the Timbers for the past six seasons, and he was the club’s captain during the team’s first season in MLS.

Jewsbury is one of just 38 players to have played in 300 MLS matches. He ranks 10th on the all-time list with 348 career games. He has had 28 goals — including 10 game-winners — and 37 assists over his career.
