The Euphoric Muddler was inspired by Rick Anderson’s Euphoria. A sparse soft-hackle, Anderson’s fly combines color and movement in a subtle offering. Bruce Berry Muddler-ized it in three colors: purple, black and rust.
The Euphoric Muddler can be fished dead-drifted dry, chugged, riffle-hitched or with a sink tip. Use the rusty version when the morning light is in the water.
Tie this one in rust on a No. 4-6 down-eye hook. For the tag, use High Voltage pearl mylar. Wrap the body with rusty midge body thread. Wrap the hackle with ringneck rooster rump. For the underwing, tie in a few strands of High Voltage pearl mylar. Wrap a sparse overhackle of mallard flank. Finish with rusty mule deer flank hair trimmed to a flattened bullet head.
