Six different players score goals in a girls water polo win for Madras

MADRAS — Six different players scored to guide Madras to an 11-5 East League girls water polo win over Ridgeview on Wednesday.

Julia Martinez and Melissa Field had three goals each to lead the White Buffaloes. Chloe Smith scored twice and Madras got a goal apiece from Reicie Simtustus, Jessa Hocker and Riata Green.

For Ridgeview, Tristy Osborn and P.J. Lighthall each scored two goals, and Jessie McElroy had one. Goalie Madison Branaugh had five saves for the Ravens.

Ridgeview 13, Madras 9: MADRAS — Ben Hucke scored five goals and Reed Pozzi added four to lead the Ravens. Jared Saxton and Jadon Falconer scored two goals apiece for Ridgeview in the East League win. Cylus Hoke and Teague Schierling had three goals each to lead the White Buffaloes, who also got two goals from Kyle Hartman and one from Gregg Vineyard.

Cross-country

Lava Bears lead way at meet: VENETA — Grace Perkins took fourth in 18:34.2, and the Bend girls placed third as a team at the Country Fair Classic. Anna Bartlett was 29th for ninth-place Sisters, while Bandon’s Sailor Hutton claimed overall honors with a time of 17:51.8. With Hunter Greene taking 36th, the Bend boys were eighth as a team. Sisters, which was 25th, was led by Jordan Pollard’s eighth-place time of 16:24.6. McMinnville’s Zane Fodge was first in 15:33.1. Sheldon swept the team titles.
