An investigation into stolen diesel fuel led to the arrest of three Prineville residents.
Reports of the fuel thefts north of Prineville, including from unattended farm equipment, led Crook County sheriff’s deputies to a house on NW Vista View Road in Prineville on Oct. 12. Daniel Wade Seaton, 23, was arrested at the house, a Crook County Sheriff’s Office news release said. Seaton was arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft, second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief. Online court records show Seaton also had an outstanding Crook County warrant for failure to appear in court.
Investigators also found Seaton to be in possession of a poached mule deer doe, for which he was cited by the Oregon State Police, the release said.
Investigators had reason to believe Timothy Neal Evans, of the same address, was also involved in the fuel thefts. Evans, 38, wasn’t at the residence and also had an outstanding Crook County warrant issued Sept. 14 for possession of methamphetamine and felon in possession of a restricted weapon, online court records show.
Crook County deputies, with the help of the Oregon State Police, Prineville Police Department, Redmond Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement team, executed a search warrant on the Vista View Road house Thursday morning, according to the news release. Evans was in the residence along with Judith L. Carter, 37, and another Prineville man.
Evans was arrested for the outstanding warrant, as well as on suspicion of second-degree theft, second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree criminal mischief and possession of methamphetamine, the release said.
Carter was arrested for possession of heroin. The Prineville man was not arrested, the release said.
Carter and Seaton were released due to a lack of jail beds, while Evans remains in custody at the Crook County jail, the release said.
