Bundy transfer — Ammon and Ryan Bundy are being transferred from an Oregon jail to Nevada, where they will be tried early next year on charges stemming from a 2014 standoff with federal agents near their father’s ranch. The Multnomah County Jail roster shows the brothers left the downtown Portland jail Wednesday morning. They are being flown to Las Vegas, where they face more than a dozen felony charges. A jury last week acquitted the Bundys and five co-defendants of conspiring to impede Interior Department employees from doing their jobs at a national wildlife refuge in Oregon.

Seaside conviction — The mother of a slain Seaside toddler has been sentenced to more than 15 years in prison. Dorothy Wing was initially charged with murder by abuse in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Evangelina Wing. She pleaded guilty in January to the lesser charge of manslaughter and testified against her former boyfriend, Randy Lee Roden. The ex-boyfriend was convicted of murder Monday. Evangelina Wing died from blunt force trauma shortly before Christmas in 2014. Wing’s two sons were found badly injured. Prosecutors believe all three children were tortured, burned, bitten and caged in the months before.

Vaping ban — Lane County commissioners have rejected a proposed ban on smoking and vaping in county parks, but not without deciding to reconsider the policy later with possible changes. The board of commissioners voted down the proposal Tuesday that would have applied to the county’s 73 parks. The board will consider a provision exempting Native American religious ceremonies and whether the ban should apply to campsites at a later date. The board’s decision marks another loss for county health officials, who have pushed for the parks smoking ban for several years. Commissioners who voted against the proposal questioned whether it would actually improve residents’ health, as supporters of the ban have argued.
