• Deschutes Children’s Foundation received a $10,000 donation Nov. 29 from Credit Unions Working Together, the title sponsors of the 2016 Great Drake Park Duck Race.

• The Christmas Tree Project of Bend provides free, decorated Christmas trees to those who have physical limitations or who may not have the means to buy and decorate a tree each holiday season. To receive a Christmas tree, families can visit www.christmastree-projectofbend.org and complete a request form. The organization is seeking donations and volunteers to support the effort this holiday season in addition to donated trucks to transport trees, donated lights and ornaments, tree stands and live trees. • Central Electric Cooperative, of Redmond, announced that some current and former members are eligible to receive capital credits payments totaling $1,751,211.35. CEC members will begin receiving their checks this week. Individual checks will average $118.51 and will be paid to 10,554 present and former CEC members who purchased power in the years of 1992 and 1993.

• ReachAnother Foundation, founded by Bend surgeon Dr. Marinus Koning, was recognized in the United Kingdom’s medical journal The Lancet for establishing three specialized schools for children with autism in Ethiopia.

• International School of Baking recently won Lux Magazine’s Best Educational Baking Establishment — USA award for 2016. The International School of Baking was founded in 1985 Marda Stoliar, of Bend, who serves as director and chief instructor.

• High Desert Chamber Music has been awarded a $7,500 grant from the Herbert Templeton Foundation. The award will go toward general operating support, assisting with increased staffing, expanded concert series and educational outreach programs.

• Hippinie Inc., a utility apparel design company located in Bend, launched a campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for a multifunctional beanie.

• Hoodoo Ski Area plans to operate fully beginning Dec. 15 with lifts running 9 a.m.-4 p.m. every day through Jan. 2.

• Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for its 2016-17 budget.

• Parilla Grill, 706 NE Greenwood Ave., No. 100, Bend, filed an application Nov. 29 with the OLCC as a new outlet for a commercial establishment full on-premises sales license, which allows the sale and service of distilled spirits, malt beverages, wine and cider for consumption on the licensed premises.

• Mother’s Downtown Kitchen, 10 NW Minnesota Ave., Bend, filed an application Nov. 30 with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission as a new outlet for a commercial establishment full on-premises sales license, which allows the sale and service of distilled spirits, malt beverages, wine and cider for consumption on the licensed premises.
