Dena DeRose, the advertising director for the Medford Mail Tribune, has been hired to fill the same position at The Bulletin, the newspaper announced Monday.
DeRose began working for the Southern Oregon Media Group, which owns the Medford Mail Tribune, in 2000, shortly after graduating from Kent State University in Ohio. She began as a customer service assistant and page layout coordinator for the organization and occupied a variety of roles before being promoted to advertising director in 2009.
During her time as advertising director, DeRose led a department of 29 employees, which exceeded its business revenue targets by at least 10 percent during each of the previous four years. From 2015 to 2016, she oversaw a $283,000 increase in local display revenue and a $73,000 increase in digital revenue.
Kari Borgen has headed The Bulletin’s advertising department for the last year. Following the hiring of DeRose, Borgen will shift responsibilities and will focus on publishing The Observer in La Grande and the Baker City Herald, among other tasks.
DeRose will begin working for The Bulletin in mid-January.
