Tom passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, of a heart attack at the age of 80. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, 1:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 52315 Huntington Rd. in La Pine.
Tom was born on April 26, 1936, in David City, Nebraska, to Otto and Elinor (McElravy) Darrow. He got his bachelor’s degree at Wayne State in Nebraska, his master’s at Vermillion in South Dakota, and his doctorate at Oregon State. He taught Zoology for one year at Oregon State, and then thirty years at Lewis and Clark College in Portland.
Tom served in the Army for two years at an Alaskan Airbase. He married his loving wife, Yvonne “Pootie,” on September 16, 1956. He loved hunting, fishing, black powder rifles, and attending rendezvouses. He really enjoyed traveling to different places and states with Yvonne and their two cats in their motorhome.
Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, and his adopted family from Canada: Steve, Sheri, Becky, and Jessica. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister, daughter, Robyn Lockwood, grandson, Michael Lockwood, aunts, and uncles.
