Barbara Bahlburg (Bentley) was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon on November 2, 1923. She was married to Erwin Carl Bahlburg on September 1, 1946, until his passing in 2005. Barbara was a faithful and loving wife and mother. She is survived by their four children, Debbie Williams, Cheryl Webber, Bill Bahlburg, and Bruce Bahlburg, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Barbara graduated from University of Oregon in 1945 with a music degree. While attending college, she earned the title of Miss Lane County and was honored by Who’s Who of America. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and was a member of American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the sisterhood of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO). During her tenure at University of Oregon, she entertained the United States military with the local USO chapter during World War II. After graduation, she taught music at the Parish Middle School in Salem, Oregon for a year and then married the love of her life, Erwin Bahlburg.
Barbara’s energetic years were spent in Newport, Oregon raising her four children and was active in the local Parent Teachers Association (PTA), Agate Beach Golf Club, The Presbyterian Church choir, Bridge Club, Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts and entertaining friends and family. She loved to cook and bake and take care of her family’s needs. Her only regret in life was not having more children.
Barbara and Erv retired to Bend, Oregon in 1977 to a life of golf, fishing, playing bridge and socializing. They regrettably said goodbye to lifelong friendships in Newport but welcomed the warm and dry climate of Bend. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990, but after her mastectomy, the cancer never reappeared.
She spent her last years living comfortable in a beautiful retirement community in Bend, Oregon.
