Sisters School District announced late Thursday evening that it will be canceling school on Friday.

After the roof of a Bend-La Pine elementary school gym collapsed due to heavy snow, some local districts have decided to evaluate the roofs on their own facilities, according to a release from the school district.

Any athletic events, programs or activities scheduled to be held at locations other than Sisters School District facilities will still take place. The district asks that students and parents consult their coaches, athletic advisors or the Sisters High School athletic director with questions.
