Access to Barclay Drive at U.S. Highway 20 in Sisters will be closed for four to five weeks while crews work to install a roundabout at the intersection, according to Oregon Department of Transportation.
Beginning Saturday, the contractor Knife River will perform excavation, place base rock and install curbs and sidewalks to complete the Barclay Drive side of the roundabout.
The majority of work will occur Monday through Saturday during daytime hours, according to ODOT.
U.S. Highway 20 will remain open and work will not result in significant delays for through traffic.
Travelers trying to access Barclay Drive can use detour routes on Pine Street.
The $3.2 million project is expected to improve safety, mobility, and access at the intersection just west of Sisters’ downtown area. The roundabout will be constructed in three phases to minimize impact on the traveling public.
Construction of the roundabout is expected to be completed by Memorial Day.
