REDMOND — Bend High’s Emma Mone hit a triple with two outs in the top of the eighth inning and then scampered home on a wild pitch to give the Lava Bears a 7-6 victory in their first Intermountain Conference game of the season.
The Panthers (0-4 overall) had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the seventh when they loaded the bases with one out and the score tied 6-6, but Bend pitcher Allicite Frost caught the comebacker and turned a double play to force extra innings.
