Q: I’m glad to see Pierce Brosnan back on television in “The Son.” Didn’t he make a Stephen King story for TV a few years ago?
— Carol Black, Buffalo, New York
A: He did. “Bag of Bones” was a 2011 A&E Network miniseries, and it was the first home-screen project Brosnan had done — other than lending his voice to an episode of “The Simpsons” — since becoming the movie world’s James Bond. While promoting “The Son,” he told us he wouldn’t rule out a steadier return to TV work, something that he and his late producing partner Beau St. Clair had been investigating prior to “The Son” coming up for him.
Q: Did any of the actors who co-star with Gary Sinise on “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” also co-star with him on “CSI: NY”?
— Jeff Anderson, Palatine, Illinois
A: No, but one of his “Beyond Borders” colleagues spent time in another part of CBS’ “CSI” franchise. Alana De La Garza had a recurring role as Marisol Delko, the sister of detective Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez, who’s now on the parent “Criminal Minds”) and eventual wife of team leader Horatio Caine (David Caruso), on “CSI: Miami.” The character was ill-fated, but the actress largely has played powerful women since, also encompassing her stints on “Law & Order,” “Do No Harm” and “Forever.”
Q: The actress who been playing Severide’s girlfriend on “Chicago Fire” looks familiar. Has she been in another series?
— Steven Spicer, via email
A: She has, and with a somewhat different look. Charlotte Sullivan played Officer Gail Peck on the ABC police drama “Rookie Blue,” but on that show, she had blonde hair at various lengths. She’s also appeared in a number of other Canadian-produced series, including “Saving Hope” — which has also featured such fellow “Rookies” as Peter Mooney and Travis Milne, and has been directed on a number of occasions by Gregory Smith (who portrayed Officer Dov Epstein on “Rookie Blue”) — and “Mary Kills People,” which currently is having its American run on Lifetime.
Q: Is “Grimm” really over?
— Connie Smith, Plain City, Ohio
A: Yes, at least for the time being — which, as the current example of “Prison Break” teaches us anew, is why we’ve learned never to say “never.” Some threads were left by the NBC fantasy-adventure’s finale that could be picked up if the decision was made to do a sequel of some sort, be it a TV movie or another series. Mind you, nothing definite has been said about that, but there is the means for that, should it eventually happen.
Q: Who will replace Robert Osborne on Turner Classic Movies?
— Sam Pritchard, via email
A: If we may say, he is irreplaceable, since few people are able to combine a vast knowledge of cinema history with such a genial and widely beloved on-camera persona. However, with Ben Mankiewicz now handling the lion’s share of the channel’s movie introductions, it’s probable there will come a time when TCM enlists another regular host.
It’s all but certain that the executives there want to wait an appropriate amount of time at Turner to show proper respect to the late Osborne and the role he had from the moment the channel launched. In the meantime, you’ll probably continue to see guest hosts on the order of Dana Delany, Ron Perlman and Michael Feinstein, who were among those who filled in during Osborne’s medical leave.
Q: Will Chris Pratt be on “Mom” again?
— Heidi Stone, Port St. Lucie, Florida
A: It’s entirely likely if not downright probable, since we’d imagine the movie star enjoyed working with wife Anna Faris for as long as it took to do the episode of the CBS sitcom they shared earlier this season.
Of course, there’s the matter of scheduling, since making a film such as “Passengers” or the “Guardians of the Galaxy” comedy-adventures takes considerable time for Pratt. However, you can bet the “Mom” producers would love to have him back.
