The Expendables exist floating somewhere between two musical worlds. Modern reggae is at one extreme: The band’s ska- and dub-influenced rhythms and positive lyrics caught the attention of Slightly Stoopid, which signed the band to its label Stoopid Records in 2007. Then there’s the band’s punk streak, readily apparent in its rapid-fire, distorted guitar chords and onstage energy (also note tours with NOFX, Less Than Jake and Pennywise, plus production credits from the Butthole Surfers’ Paul Leary and NOFX’s El Hefe on the band’s 2015 album “Sand in the Sky”). But even when they’re doing reggae, The Expendables sound like their home state of California — sun, surf and good vibes. Join the party when the band plays the Domino Room on Friday with openers RGDLDGRN and Tribal Theory.
