Fiona Dolan scored the tying and go-ahead goals in the final minutes Monday, and Summit escaped with an 11-10 win over Bend United that clinched the Central Oregon League girls lacrosse title for the Storm.

In a game played at Mountain View High School, Summit came out fast and led 7-1 before Bend United regrouped and pulled within 7-5 at halftime.

A win would have pulled Bend United even with Summit atop the COL standings, and the combined Bend High/Mountain View squad played like it wanted a share of the league lead as it overtook the Storm for a 10-9 lead in the fourth quarter.

Dolan’s late heroics saved the day for Summit, however, as the Storm improved to 5-0 in league play and 11-4 overall with one game remaining in the regular season — at Redmond on Thursday.

Bend United, which was led by Joren Fettig’s five goals, two assists, seven draw controls and five created turnovers, slipped to 3-2 and remained in second place in the COL. Now 9-3 overall, Bend United concludes its regular season Friday at home against Hood River Valley.

Dolan finished with three goals for Summit, which was led in scoring by Julia Stites’ four goals. Christine Cranston scored two goals and Jessica Edwards and Nicole Gallivan had one apiece for the winners. Storm goalie Kelsey Norby made 12 saves.

For Bend United, Kaylene Oates added two goals and Bethany Seitz, Emma Beaver and Sahalie Levine scored one apiece. Also for Bend, Kaimei Gescuk had three assists and two draw controls, Beaver had three draw controls, and MacKenzie Lashley had three caused turnovers. Bend United goalie Kamryn Doyle made six saves.
