The Central Oregon District of the Oregon Music Teachers Association will present a free music workshop by Deborah Cleaver titled “The Art of the Sarabande” from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Friday at the Redmond residence of pianist Jean Shrader. The public is invited to learn about the sarabande, a Baroque dance movement in triple time, which we here at GO! know because we looked it up in our Harvard Dictionary of Music, where we also learned the “zarabanda” was a “wildly erotic dance in Mexico and Spain … banned in Spain in 1583.” For more information on attending the workshop, contact Gina at 541-593-2663.
