New restaurant — After months of preparation, the French Market opened June 9 on the site of the former Riverside Market in Bend. Executive chef Luke 
Mason, previously of Aziza and Garde Manger restaurants in San Francisco, offers casual pizza-or-panini lunches, a selection of small plates, and gourmet continental dinners priced $17 to $24. Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. 285 NW Riverside Blvd., Bend.

New chef — Australia-born Nathaniel Cox is the new executive chef at secluded Kokanee Café for its 2017 summer season. His menu ranges from a frutti di mare of steelhead, prawns and Manila clams to steak, chicken and vegetarian dhal with grilled tempeh. Dinner prices range from $17 to $32. Open 5 p.m. to close
