DESPICABLE ME 3
Rating: PG for action and rude humor.
What it’s about: Gru and the Minions are the back, this time battling ’80s super-villain Balthazar Bratt, with the help of Gru’s long lost twin brother, Dru.
The kid attractor factor: Well, it’s an animated family friendly comedy, and it features favorite characters the Minions – it’s kid-nip.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Family comes above everything else, even when family members are hard or challenging.
Violence: Some action-adventure style violence – car and boat chases, giant lasers, menacing bubble gum, space blasters.
Language: No swearing, but some bawdy jokes on behalf of the Minions.
Sexuality: No real sexuality, but there are a couple of flirtatious suggestive moments, especially with the Minions who can get away with it as featureless, yellow blobs.
Drugs: None
Parents advisory: A wild adventure ride appropriate for most kids.
“BABY DRIVER”
Rating: R for violence and language throughout.
What it’s about: A virtuosic young getaway driver obsessed with music gets entangled in a complicated criminal plot.
The kid attractor factor: Stars Ansel Elgort and Lily James, the killer soundtrack and the bright heist movie genre will attract teen audiences.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Always take care of the ones who are important to you. Be courteous and do the right thing, even when you’re doing something bad.
Violence: A lot of car chases, car crashes, bank heists, shootings, along with gory blood spatter, murder and violence.
Language: Swearing throughout
Sexuality: Kissing, references to sex.
Drugs: References to drug use.
Parents advisory: Young audiences will be attracted to this film. OK for teens, but way too violent for kids.
