David Freeman was named to the all-league first team and all-state third team, and will be competing in the 4A All-Star game in Roseburg this weekend.

YAKIMA, Wash. — Devlin Granberg of the Cowlitz Black Bears swatted two home runs, and Bend Elks pitcher Khalil Rivera contributed an effective inning of relief in the South Division’s 5-2 victory over the North in Tuesday night’s West Coast League All-Star Game.

Another Elks player, outfielder Derek Chapman, singled in the first inning and scored on Granberg’s first homer, which gave the South a 2-0 lead at Yakima County Stadium.

Granberg, the South team’s designated hitter, added a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Rivera was one of nine pitchers to share mound duties for the South squad. He allowed one hit in a scoreless fourth inning.

The Elks’ other All-Star, infielder Collin Runge, drew a walk in the sixth inning in his only plate appearance. Chapman finished 1-for-4.

League play resumes Wednesday, when the Elks are at home to open a three-game series with the Gresham GreyWolves. Game time is set for 6:35 p.m.
