Bend’s Browning finishes 4th at Western States 100

AUBURN, Calif. — Bend’s Jeff Browning, 45, finished fourth at the Western States 100-mile Endurance Run on Saturday. Browning finished the ultramarathon in 17 hours, 32 minutes, 6 seconds, entering LeFebvre Stadium at 10:32 p.m.

Browning finished third at the 2016 Western States 100 with a time of 16:30:40.

Bend’s Ian Sharman, 36, finished seventh in 17:42:06. Sharman has finished in the top-10 every year since 2010.

Ryan Sandes, 35 and of Cape Town, South Africa, won the race in 16:19:37. Cat Bradley, a 23-year-old from Boulder, Colorado, won the women’s division in 19:31:30.

Stephanie Howe Violett, 33 and of Bend, was the top local women’s finisher. She finished 12th among women with a time of 22:52:26, crossing the finish line at 3:52 a.m.
